  1. I don't think it's bad, it's just different, if you grew up eating it you'd think there was probably nothing wrong with it. What I've found is that a lot of it doesn't rely on spices, so people who like spicy foods might think it's bland.

  2. British food is generally of high quality and whoever fed you some bad stuff really needs talking to!

Have you ever tried Belarusain cuisine?

*thinks Bulga wheat-has a nightmare lol*

You'll be grateful of the food in the UK now!

  3. British food isn't bad at all.

  4. Its not

American people are either fatfatfat or size 0!

    British people are healthyy generally!

  5. British food is great, you have clearly been to the wrong restaurants!

  6. Traditional British food is as good as you'll find anywhere. The difference between us and the French, say, is that they still cook their traditional cuisine, whereas we don't. We are too quick to take something out of the freezer and chuck it in the microwave. The French will spend time in preparation, and sit down as a family to eat together. Happily, there does seem to be a change in attitude, with more people discovering just how good traditional British food can be, thanks, amongst other things, to the efforts of various TV cooks, and others who like and value good food.

  7. It's not, although I must admit, the seasonings generally used are rather bland for me. It depends what you mean by bad and which food you are referring to though, since fast food is always bad, and there are a lot of people who rely on their microwaves in this country, it has to be said. However, have you tried a decent casserole lately, or a nice roast with at least four types of vegetable, a good gravy and some Yorkshire Puddings? How about frying a mixture of British ingredients up in a pan, like Cumberland/Lincolnshire sausage in a tomato sause with sugarsnap peas, onions, sweetcorn, mushrooms, etc? Be inventive, dig a little and you'll find something you like =oD

  8. I don't have a problem with british food.what particular foods are you referring to?

  9. I wouldn't say it is, in general. It all depends on where you go out to eat. In fact, it is the wide range of influences from different cultures in Britain that makes British food so diverse and interesting.

  10. What are you talking about? British food can be as good as any in the world, and certainly infinitely better the stuff that the Americans (and now, sadly, the Italians) seem intent on exporting around the world.

Well prepared roast beef, Yorkshire pudding, roasties with sprouts, carrots, peas and thick onion gravy will be easily as good as any over-priced under-prepared nouveau-cuisine stuff from France.

It's not just fish & chips, and remember that the high street burger/fried chicken joints are American imports so don't ever call that muck British.

There are loads of other native British dishes that can hold their own against the world. Eg. Haggis & Neeps (great stuff), Bread Pudding (not the mucked about stuff with added flavours), Roast chicken/ duck, more assorted fish dishes than I could list here.

I'm really sorry that you have suffered from either a very limited exposure to British food and/or had to put up with a poor and limited cook when you were growing up. Find a good British food cook book (Delia Smith or Elizabeth David books, from WH Smith should fit the bill) and try some of the recipies.

  11. What British food have you tried?

Have a look at deliasmithonline.com and try her recipes of British food- perhaps you've just never had it cooked well?

    some of my favourites are:

    apple pie

    yorkshire pudding

scones (if you're american you might call them biscuits)

    beef wellington

    bangers and mash

    sandwiches.....

    the list goes on!

But I'm biased- I love classic British food

  12. Who said that?

  13. why? what food you mean?

  14. whats bad about roast beef and yorkshire pud?....whats bad about fish and chips?......

  15. Because they can't cook

  16. In terms of health or taste. If you mean taste, I dont think it is, but if yiou mean health, yes I suppose it is. Roast beef and yorkshire pud, battered fish and chips, full english breakfast. All are high calorie, but taste very nice.

  17. british food is not bad you must be eating in the wrong resturants for your taste buds

  18. try here !!!  my favorite restaurant http://carmineristoranteitaliano.dgte.ph...

  19. Didn't realise it was, I always thought we had a good mix of food styles in this country and some of the freshest ingredients, maybe it's the way you cook it.

  20. Real British food is very good. Roast beef, meat pies and puddings. Stew with dumplings, pork, lamb and chicken dishes with fresh vegetables in season.

We are learning again to cook so all is not lost.

  21. you are so right it's embarrassing, i just came back from thailand after 6months there and the food was cheap fresh  tasty made you happy to eat it and easily digestable and not to put too fine a point on it didn't end up like clay when it comes out the other end ,when i came back to the english rubbish i had the worst indigestion i'd ever had in my life i felt like i was having a heart attack, we've got food so wrong thats why we're all fat and there so slim, it's not rocket science.

  22. If you mean when dinning out i think it is a case that they just cant be bothered sometimes. My brother in law is a chief in a local pub and his food is fantastic because he puts in the effort and is proud of his food.

I don't eat anywhere else locally because of past experience.

  23. Don't matter where the food comes from.   It's actually who cooked it.  You obviously aren't cooking it right or going to the right eating places.  British food is great.   You can't be a good ole british roast or some fish and chips.

  24. IT IS NOT BAD,  it's just that them in europe want to think that they are good at something

  25. Because our food has been messed about with so much we`ve lost the real flavours. Rick Steins food heroes shows this .We need to get back to the food of our land & not copy the food from other countries  , a kind of food identity crisis.

We can all learn from each other & integrate through the food we eat. I enjoy a curry as much as anyone else also other dishes from other countries but stop trying to make british food taste like its from somewhere else!!
