Why is CNN headquartered in Atlanta?

  1. Maybe it is the rent.   It is sad actually, as there is probably no other American large city more out of step with CNN's editorial positions than Atlanta.


  2. Ted Turner's television "empire" began in Atlanta when he bought little UHF channel 17, which he renamed the WTBS for Turner Broadcasting System. Then he decided to start CNN. Since he and the company were already in Atlanta, it made sense to keep the headquarters there ... and have bureaus elsewhere.

    These days ,it doesn't matter much where the news comes from. It's easy to broadcast from any spot on a moment's notice.

  3. We don't want CNN in Chicago!  It's fine where it is.  It's probably headquartered there because Atlanta ISN'T New York, Cali, or Chicago...

  4. Ted Turner knew that it was right for Atlanta.
