  1. Casa Loma is not a site of National importance. Its a attraction for people visiting Toronto in particular. Most people from other cities have not even heard about it.

  2. It's significance is connected to the person who built it in the early 1900's.  Sir Henry Pellat was an interesting man to say the least.  He founded the Toronto Electric Light Company in 1883, the same year that Thomas Edison developed steam-generated electricity.   By the early 1900's as a single person he directly controlled 25% of Canada’s economy. His entrepreneurial spirit continued and together with some business partners he built the first hydro-generating plant at Niagara Falls in 1902. Henry Pellatt was knighted in 1905 by King Edward V for his service to the Queen and his efforts in bringing electricity to the people of Canada.  He built Casa Loma, the house on the hill, simply because he wanted to build a real castle.  This link will tell you more about him, which is the significance of Casa Loma to Canada.
