  1. Its put on the handle part to protect the cork handle if that is what it maybe. Its just part of the packing and shipping ordeal from the manufactor to you. Some people leave it on to protect it from getting dirty and its so easy to rinse clean and helps in keeping the rod looking nicer for alittle while longer.


  2. To protect the cork, but it also prevents it from expanding and distorting its shape before the angler has a chance to use it, without the cellophane all cork handles will change their shape slightly due to moisture and heat expansion.

  3. To keep the handles clean and dry until you buy it.
