Question:

Why is Climate Change going to happen in spite of what ever man does?

Global Cooling was the buzzword of the seventies, now global warming is the new buzzword. Climate change best describes what is happening. When they mention the Arctic Ocean melting, why don't they mention that the largest underwater volcano is erupting under the Arctic Ocean?

Mankind always overestimates its own importance.

  1. Fact: the Co2 levels have never been this high

    Fact: more Co2=higher temperatures

    voila global warming

we spew a sh*t load of pollutants into the air. how can this not be our fault?

  2. The climate is constantly changing. However, this does not dispute the fact that most of the recent warming is the result of man's activities that are putting increasing quantities of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.

There are a few misconceptions in your question that I'd like to clear up:

    A. "The scientific consensus in the 1970s about "global cooling" is a beloved argument of global-warming skeptics -- and little more, says a survey of scientific literature between 1965 and 1979. During that time period, seven peer-reviewed articles supported global cooling, while 44 predicted global warming. "There was no scientific consensus in the 1970s that the Earth was headed into an imminent ice age," says coauthor Thomas Peterson. "A review of the literature suggests that, to the contrary, greenhouse warming even then dominated scientists' thinking about the most important forces shaping Earth's climate on human time scales." Glad that got cleared up."[1]

    B. If geothermal heat released by a volcano THREE TO FIVE KILOMETERS under the ocean can melt the entire Arctic Ice Sheet, then the princess really could feel the pea beneath all of those mattresses.

FYI, The Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution Woods Hole is investigating the Gakkel Ridge, but Rush Limbaugh was one of the first to suggest that heat from the Gakkel Ridge is melting the Arctic Ice Caps.[2] The guys responsible for this research over at Woods Hole have said, "We don't believe the volcanoes had much effect on the overlying ice."[3]

An important question to ask is, "Why are people relying on Rush for the science news?"

  3. Sure there might be background climate change going on but the stating of that fact doesn't disprove the possibility that man is contributing to climate change on it's own. This is at best an ad-hominem attack and at worst a complete non-argument.

  4. climate change is normal...?

  5. climate change is a cycle.

global warming is part of a cycle.

there was global warming back when there were dinosaurs,

but where were all of the cars, refrigerators, industries.. etc??

    oh wait.. there werent any!

so how are people supposedly causing this global climate change?

    ..

    they arent.

    i have a solution!

we should all stop breathing so much.

  6. The biggest greenhouse gas is water vapor.  Can't wait until they try to convince us that we have to regulate that.  Oh wait!  No more tears, world peace!

  7. We have no control over it. Rather arrogant to think we can.

  8. MAN CAN NOT CHANGE THE WEATHER ON EARTH

  9. Ever since the Yahoo news article came out about the possibility of the Arctic melting more than last year I've been closely monitoring this site that shows infrared satellite images of the Arctic ocean and funny thing is it's not melting any where near as fast as last year. Check out the link that shows side by side images of July 9, 2007 and July 9, 2008:

Maybe the volcanoe isn't erupting anymore?

I feel we only need to endure one to two more years of the AGW believers trying to claim the globe is still warming up when it fact it isn't. I figure by than we will have more cooling years under our belt showing we are correct in stating the earth is cooling down again.

  10. Global Warming is not just about climate change... sure, I guess it starts out as climate change, but then it also leads to other stuff, like animals dying... people dying.... pollution.... beautiful nature being destroyed..... food shortages.... yeah.

  11. Yes we can because if the carbon in the air that is heating is some places and cooling in the other places you should think about before you act on awsnering this one
