In Continental Europe, the Middle East, and francophone Africa, the product is known as "Coke Light" but elsewhere as "Diet Coke" - why is this please bitte/s'il-te plaît/por favor?

  1. marketing

  2. just a translation issue.  the word diet is misused in english.

  3. Coke Zero is a completely different product from Diet Coke/Coke Lite.

As far as why the other has two names... I wondered about that too. While in the Air Force I spent 3 years in Europe and noticed that. It is not just coke. Other diet drinks here in the US are called Lite in Europe. It is consistent with Lite beer. Why don't we call it diet beer here in the US?

Sorry though that I do not have an actual answer for you on this.

  4. In Australia we have Zero and diet- they are 2 differant types
