Why is Daewoo Lanos so cheap in Australia? What is the catch?

I know its stopped manufacturing. Should I buy one? I am a student and cannot afford anything expensive.

  1. They were never a good vehicle at all, no one wanted to work on them, the parts were always hard too find, the maintenance was very expensive and the repairs after the warranty were out of the roof.........rethink this seriously..


  2. Probably not. Car parts are hard to find and repairs probably more expensive because of this so if you need to fix something in the car, it would be harder. The 1997-2003 Daewoo Lanos was also assessed in Aust's Used Car Ratings 2006 to have worse than average protection for its occupants in the case of a crash. There are plenty of other cheap good cars to buy in Aust, both used and new. Shop around and find a better deal. I too am sorely tempted to buy a Daewoo, in this case a Nubira, but after a bit of research am seriously re-thinking. Good luck with the car shopping.
