Why is David Beckham at the Olympics?

As a professional footballer associated only with England why is he involved with the Olympics. I don't believe that a true Olympian could not have been found to play whatever part it was supposed to be.

  1. This world is obsessed with celebrities and they put them everywhere in spite that many people are fed up with them and that the type like David Beckham represent the dark side of materialism because they stimulate greed.

    It really angered me when I saw him but from the stupid Chinese it had to be expected.

    You are right in his place there should have been an Olympic athlete that is not the symbol of money, image, glitter and superficiality. The all thing was as disgusting and pathetic as the little Chinese singer who in the opening ceremony was replaced with another little girl miming her voice because she was prettier.

  3. As he is a great role model of the UK he was chosen to be in the 8 minute London 2012 show today, he wasn't in the olympics he was just in the closing ceremony.

Beckham was such a good looking lad when he had hair.  Ever since a young man I know had a t******e removed through testicular cancer and the chemotherapy they gave him quickly made him bald, whenever I see a shaved head I wonder if they have both their balls and if they had testicular cancer and needed chemotherapy.

    I suppose shaving the head has something to do with vanity - bit like the Posh one!

  16. Because the 2012 Olympics is going to held in London so they're getting ready for it. And he is the most well-known athlete from England. Plus he's one of the greatest athletes in the world and everyone loves him. USA played Spain in basketball today, and he was there watching. They put him up on the screen and the whole crowd started cheering. Everyone loves him! Including me! :-)

  19. what and leona lewis and jimmy paige are involved with the olympics? anyone with a brain can work out that the reason they are there is because they are some of the most well known and succesful people to come out of britian.

    if we just threw all of our good athletes out there barely anybody would know who they were in other countries as they arent celebrated as much. chris hoy and victoria pendleton were out there on bikes but i doubt anyone recognised them other than GBR.

  20. David beckham was also there when we got told we could have the olympics so he plays a great part in it. plus everyone knows him for being one of the best footballers ever. hes british and it doesnt matter if hes from england.
