Why is Disneyland's The Haunted Mansion so popular?

Last time I was there, the lines were so long! I decided to go on Pirates, for the meantime, but when I got off from Pirates, the lines in Haunted Mansion were still long!

i'm not sure if u went there during halloween, but i went there a month ago, and there wasnt a line. Its not that fantastic at this time. Maybe its more special during halloween. You sit in a chaor...moves really slowly, it rotates and u see all kinds of ghosts. There actual holograms or holographic ghosts. Pretty cool tho. Splash mountain is awsome. Space mountain is the best ride of all time. And also, that..um..oyea astroblasters is so fun. I"m 16, my bro is 22, and we both enjoyed astroblasters...lol. Haunted mansion is more for little kids, but its relaxing. And its disney land, so theres lots of little kids and familys, unlike six flags, mostly teens and adults.

From October through the beginning of January the Haunted Mansion plays host to Jack Skellington and transforms into the Haunted Mansion Holiday. During this period the ride is extremely popular and Fastpasses are in use. During the rest of the year, the Mansion reverts to its normal ghoulish decor and attracts less of a crowd.

I love Haunted Mansion! =] It's one of my favorite rides there but mainly 'cause I love Halloween and it reminds me of Halloween time. lol. It's pretty cool. =] Try getting a fastpass if they are available.

First of all, Disneyland itself is a popular place.  Not to mention the fact that the haunted mansion has some history behind it.  I won't explain that here, but if you want to find out go to www.doombuggies.com.  

Also, any type of haunted house is popular, especially a ride through one with spirits in it.  It is also a ride great for all ages. The beginning starts out scary, and as you progress through the mansion the theme switches to more fun and enjoyable for young kids.

If you would like to virtually ride it, there is an excellent youtube clip titled "Haunted Mansion Disneyland".  I strongly recommend watching it.

I was down there recently and they had remodeled it to a 'Nightmare Before Christmas' theme - it is fun.  I liked it better than the regular or old decor.

I think the problem is that it does not go very fast, not as quick of turnover as other rides.  Another factor may be that it is near the various eateries of New Orleans Square so there is always a lot of traffic in that area.

haunted mansion moves a ton of people, just like pirates, so the lines are rarely that long. the longest i ever waited was for the haunted mansion holiday, and i'm sure i didn't wait more than 15 minutes or so.

the original haunted mansion is such a cool ride because of the song, the gags inside, the ghosts, everything. it's put together so well, and it's a classic disneyland experience.

The haunted mansion ride is so popular is because of the amazing special effects put into this ride. If you ever go on it, look around while on the ride and try to catch the interesting effects inside. It is also a very calming ride. I went on it when I fulfilled my thrill ride meter and needed a calm ride during the night to take a load off.
