Why is Dr. Pepper named Dr.Pepper???

Anyhow - there is NO . (dot) in between Dr Pepper.

The inventor of the Dr. Pepper soda, Charles Alderton, named the drink after his friend Dr. Charles Pepper.

Funny note, the flavor was supposedly derived from mixing the 23 flavors available at a soda stand.  At that time, soda was nothing more than flavored syrup mixed with soda water.
