Why is Dwight Howard not a good option for the Los Angeles Lakers? The answers – NBA Special Report
The Los Angeles Lakers seriously need to get a move on!
The playoffs were enough to point out that there certainly is something wrong with the current line-up. Question is what to do? How to execute it? Ex-Lakers star ‘Magic’ Johnson also sounded disheartened and suggested the team
bring some change and make things look better around the Lakers camp for the future.
Lakers have to come back in form and that cannot be, apparently, done with the present roster. Lakers have some of the best people of the league and lack in just parts of the court like the perimeter and offense. If they fix those,
they might bring out the best of Bryant and the other guys as well.
The Los Angeles’ elite basketball geeks somewhat deprive chemistry and coordination among themselves on the court. The core players of the two-time NBA Championship winning team has maybe lost the charm or whatever it is; it’s
not letting them move much further. They managed to reach the Western Conference Semi-Finals but that was about it. They were squashed by the Dallas Mavericks. What is it the Mavericks have and stints the Lakers? Lakers are full of veterans and a legend like
Kobe Bryant.
Some say it’s Dwight Howard who can help the Lakers get back on track. That seems unlikely, though. Howard is a tremendous player but not exactly what the Lakers are looking for right now. No doubt he provides the young quality
energy Lakers currently severely lack, but that’s about it he can help with though. He can prove to be more of a trouble than solution. Howard will be able to free his strings from his current contract next season and it would be in the Orlando Magic’s interest
to trade him now for a nice exchange while they can.
What are the major problems with Howard on the Lakers’ camp? Let’s have a look.
The Los Angeles Lakers has been home to Kobe Bryant since he joined the NBA back in 1996. The same year, Lakers added Shaquille O’Neal to their team and the duo proved to work extremely well together for some time – they won several
championships together. The happy times did not run for long, though.
A rivalry erupted between the two which went on and on ending as one of the NBA’s worst rivalries in history. Eventually, Shaq left the Lakers and so Bryant was the big daddy around and has been for a long time now. He is somewhat
incapable of coping with other bigs who might give him a challenge in the running of the team and hence, Howard would be a bad choice as well; rather a choice which might even unbalance the team. Besides, Bryant and Howard are known of not having a charming
past.
The Lakers would know better than to get these two together. They already have enough on their plate without another ‘legendary rivalry’.
