Why is ESPN2 showing Women's Doubles Tennis instead of Safin v. Federer?

You know it gets bad when the Safin Federer match is going on, and ESPN decided to show Venus William's match FROM yesterday.

It's sad that there was no live coverage of the men's semifinals in the United States.

I woke up a little early just to watch the match and was surprised to see a repeat of yesterday's semi finals b/w Venus Williams and Elena Dementieva. I thought it was probably because of a rain delay; so went online to confirm and discovered otherwise.

Is the popularity of tennis in the United States so low that they won't cover even the semifinals of Wimbledon unless there is an American playing in it??

Though it turned out to be a straight sets victory for Federer, any tennis lover would have wanted to catch this match live.

It's 1-2 in the 2nd set! Federer is 1, Safin is 2, but Federer is serving right now, so I think no break point yet in the set.

The broadcast time is schedule for 9am unfortunately.  They have to follow all these time regulations so as to avoid fines etc.  It is not as easy as we think unfortunately.
