Why is Earl Boykins going to play in Italy

Im a HUGE Earl Boykins fan and am wondering why he and other prospects and talented players are going to Italy and other European clubs. Can someone please explain what the attraction is ? I know Italy is a wonderful country and they have a top league, but surely any basketballer with Earl Boykins talent would want to test himself in the NBA.

More $$ because Italy,Europe,all that doesn't have a salary cap.They pay what they can pay.In the NBA,even if you have a lot of $$,you can only use a little a there is a cap.

Earl is a very good player but he has been a journeyman in the league. NBA Role players and journeymen can go to europe and be treated as superstars. A player like Earl will be embraced more in Europe then he was here e.g. Tyus Edney. He'll also make more money there and probably secure a few endorsements. The top leagues there are very good and the fans are a lot more passionate then NBA fans. At the end of the day the guy went to a place and a league where he was wanted.
