  1. Because it's testing theory's through observasions (which is the definition of Science). It's just that the observations are statistical.


  2. Economics is Both a Science and an Art.

    Because in the end, Economics deals with people's usage of money and trade. Money without people is useless. An understanding the action/reaction of people also makes Economics an Art as well as a Science.

    You can crunch the numbers on the economic impact if the Fed raises rates. But you cannot always calculate people's response to that rate increase. As such, determining the outcome can often be more Art than Science.
