Why is Ed Quinn no longer on Eureka?

Why is Ed Quinn no longer on Eureka? in the wedding episode, he disappeared. Was it his choice to leave the show, did they kick him off, or is he coming back?

He wanted out.  They were only able to get him for 5 episodes this season.

It's Eureka, so anything can happen, but they currently have no plans to bring him back.

Check out this blog. It's written by a writer from the show and he says that Ed Quinn wanted to leave the show to pursue other projects.

I still sort of hope he is coming back though - it would be quite a loss for the show. I thought his dry and sarcastic character was just  just what the show needed; who is going to fight with Carter now?
