Is Olympics the second fiddle? Look at World Cup football - the best nations fielded their best team. Why does football look down on Olympics as second fiddle...remember Messi was not allowed to play by its Club & so was Ronaldino

  1. because England is Part of The Great Britain team and is not competing individually, and so does not enter a Football team

  2. Great Britain do not field a team because the relevant Football associations are not prepared to agree on the financing. I think there are plans however for GB to field a side for the 2012 games in London.

I think lots of club teams are reluctant to allow their best players to go to the Olympics as depending on when the seasons starts they miss out of vital conditioning and warm up games and are instead thrown in very competitive matches after a few weeks of lazing around on beaches during the close season or coming more or less straight from Euro 2008, thuis increasing the chances of injury or fatigue later in the season.

  3. Because Olympics are no-professional players. Our italian team wasn't the same of the World Cup. They weren't famous and so rich. They could call just one of professional player.

  4. The competition is basically for the Under 23 years old players with only three over age players.Clubs did not allow their players to go cos olympic games is not in official FIFA calender, some have important matches to play while some clubs are scared of their player getting injured at the olympics. But I believe Argentina have a very good squad.

  5. I don't know.Well they'll be hosting 2010's Winter Olympics. :)
