  1. You've got it wrong more people South of the Border want Scotland to be independent. Firstly we'll get rid of the PM, the Chancellor of the Exchequer, the Speaker of the House of Commons, the Defense Secretary and the Secretary of State for International Development (they all represent Scottish constituencies). We lose £2 billion a year from North Sea Oil but save £2 billion as more of our taxes are spent North of the border.

We are self sufficient for Water and most of our gas and oil comes from continental Europe anyway.

  2. I don't actually know anyone who cares if Scotland get Independence, although I would miss lovely Chris Hoy representing GB in the Olympics.

  3. oil, income, water, power

  4. Dont think England or specifically the average Englishman is really too bothered . The new Scottish Government  despite some  hostility from the " national " press is  doing rather well and improving in the ratings  With the latest GERS ( Government  Expenditure and Revenue in Scotland ) Report confirming that Scotland 's economy is in surplus the myths about  subsidies from our kind neighbours in the south has been blown away . It will  mean that areas of the country especially in the south of England will then have to face reality . No more subsidies and loans from the Lottery fund to pay for the Olympic infrastructure is but one example . Democracy must prevail .

  5. Read some of the answers here & you get some right plonkers telling us how poor we'll be if we leave the Union, then in the most insulting terms possible telling us to go so they'll no longer have to subsidise us "sponging" Scots.  All c**p of course & they'll be dancing to a different tune when it actually happens.  So of course all of the things you mentioned in your question play an important role as well.  The Union is 308 years out of date & should go now.

  6. You have it wrong.  England will be happy for Scotland to go.  The government spending per head is much higher in Scotland than it is in England.  The Scots also have more MPs for their population than the rest of the UK does so the Scots, in many ways, rule over the English.  In addition, with the recent devolved powers in Scotland, the English have no say over many areas of Scots life whereas Scottish MPs have full say over English life.

  7. I have never heard anything about England being afraid of scotland getting independence. dont think many people would care or mind if they got independence...

  8. England Wales and Northern Ireland would be much better off if Scotland was coaxed into independence.  Scotland takes up far more than its fair share of the taxes in the UK.  It has no oil - the major fields are all in the waters of the Shetland Isles, which were a gift to the Crown from Denmark in honour of the Union.  In the event of the Union being dissolved, they revert to the Danish Crown, and the oil rights with them.  The bit about missing the taxes is a joke, and people in Wales and Northern Ireland have their own water thank you.
