It's to early to say England is rubbish at football. Even a top ranking nation (eg. Spain, Italy etc) still can lose to very low ranking nation. Ball is round shape, anything can happen.

It's not just money, the Italian/French/Czech/etc players are on equivalent money and play far better.

For me it's the team selection - the starting XI hasn't changed much over the last few years, players are comfortable and think they'll be picked no matter how hard they try.  We need players to play for their place - if ANYBODY plays badly their place should be up for grabs.  Also the management need to take chances on younger players and form players.  

Having said this, even with a well performing England team, it would still be a struggle against quality teams like the Czech Republic.  We have to realise that our FIFA world ranking is pretty accurate, and playing anybody higher is going to be a tough game.

I do not agree with you becaus I really beleve England players are very good. Better to see the team play when the World Cup contest start now too early to say bad things about England - this is a good country for football becaus the EPL is number 1 in world.

The coaches are really rubbish in England. From the grass roots up the scouting and coaching stinks.Remember Liverpool's youth winning team under Highway?Do you remember seeing one black player in the squad.Coaching today is wrong,with sons and friends of coaches getting into the academies and then not making the grade because they were never good enough.this is ruining our game,poor staff.

I agree with Dame Linzi. Very small amount of premiership teams have English players and the ones that we do have are rubbish!

The huge amounts of advertising and money in the game here have diminished national pride and turned English footballers into bloated, greedy, selfish idiots who only care about money. Simple.

Why flog your guts out for your country when you can get paid in excess of £100,000 a week for your club?

Why do other nations not have this problem? I think because They have a stronger sense of national pride than we do.

Most people argue that that the premiership is the best league in the world, it me be so yet if you look closely its only the top four man u, liverpool, chelsea and arsenal which are any good if you compare it to other european teams in the champions leauge and eufa, showing all other english teams are not decent, and the amount of english players abroad playing in the first league's is less than 5 added to the number of english players in the top four is also not that many, hence the english national team can't be expected to be in the same leauge as brazil, argentina, spain, holland, germany and italy, who all have plenty of quality players in first leuges all over the world,

and then there is the english aragoncy who think they have always had a great team because they won the world cup some 42 years ago, and are thus utterly shocked each time they see there team loose,
