  1. internation date line is where the new day starts.  It is in the middle of the Pacific.  That means Japan is ahead of almost everybody. Thus the name the land of the rising sun.  Time zones move west from there.

  4. Because the sun rises from the East and sets in the West. So the country which is more towards the East in terms of Longitude gets Sunlight first. Since, Japan is the eastern most of the three countries it is ahead in terms of Time.

    Note: There are 360 degrees to the globe of which 180

    degrees are towards the west of the Prime Meridian (0 degrees) and 180 degrees are towards the East.

    Also, Every hr = 15 degrees, that's how time is standardised for different countries

Shine the flashlight on the globe at the equater and then spin the globe slowly in a counterclockwise direction (looking down on the north pole) and watch the light move from east to west. The light from the flashlight (pretend it's the sun) will shine on Japan first, then India, then Europe.
