Why is FF saying my period is due 15 days after ovulation?

I thought that women with a regular 28 day cycle get their period 14 days after ovulation. So why is FF saying that I will get my period on day 15 and should I trust that estimate or expect it on day 14 like I thought?

  1. A period beginning on day 15 after ovulation would, in fact, make your luteal phase 14 days.  That said, FF will give you an average based on the information you gave them on your cycle length.  As you keep charting it will learn your cycles and give you a more accurate picture of your cycle.  A normal luteal phase is 10-16 days, though 10 is on the short side.  My Dr. considers anything under 12 days to be a luteal phase defect.

  2. i have a 28 day cycle and get my period 14 days after ovulation but sometimes 15 also,

it is only a estimate so just wait and see, i believe us women know our bodies better then even the most experienced specialists

are you ttc ? goodluck if you are

  3. A normal luteal phases can be 10 to 16 days.  The common is 14  (similar to how they use cycles being 28 days and ovulation being on cd 14 but not everyone follows that pattern) because most corpus l. die off at 14 days due to an egg not implanting and progesterone levels dropping.

  4. If you have several cycles in there- it may be averaging your luteal phases from past cycles.

Not all women (even with 28 day cycles) ovulate on the same day.

  5. Is FF Fertility Friend?

It's because if you have a 14 day luteal phase, you will get your period on the next day - being 15dpo, which therefore becomes day 1...

Let's say you really do have that perfect 28 day cycle, ovulating on day 14.  That would mean you also have a 14 day luteal phase (second half of your cycle) and then the next day (15 dpo like FF said) would become day 1 if you get your period.

    Hope that helps!

  6. Ovulation occurs 14 days before the start of the next period, which for a 28 day cycle occurs on day 15.
