Why is Friday traffic usually light?

Is it because more people call out sick/take vacation on Friday?

Yes, a lot of companies close early on Friday or let their employees off on Friday. I have never been fortunate enough to work for a company like that.

yeah, they take the day off, and/or not scheduled to work on those days... i always thought it was weird because i've never had a job that does something like that...

i always find traffic to be heavier on friday because of vacations, travel, more workers, etc.

A lot of companies have 4 day work weeks with Fridays off.  I worked for an engineering firm that had half it's people off every other Friday.  Also, people take an extra day of vacation on the Friday before their week off.

no, its because more people take friday off after lunch time. People usually get thier checks and get to go home early. That and schedule their vactaion.
