    He had got India independence without harming anyone...

    Beacause he made India independant, it's nlike he gave birth to INDIA!!!

  5. At best he is a social reformer. To call him the father of the Nation???? The greats of India are Asoka, Buddha, Shivaji, Rani Of Jansi and many others.

    He is one of the most respectable and debatable person in India. He had the greatest capability of organizing and motivate movement against British. He was the most important reason of present day India. Just like a Father takes care of his family, Mahatma Gandhi took care of India.

  9. Because he united Indians behind him and forced the British to give them independence, and he stuck to his word and did it all without resorting to violence. He is truly the greatest man of modern times.

    We was adored here in the cotton mill towns of northern England, even though the people knew his wishes would mean unemployment for them, they knew morally he was right.

    Gandhi's struggle started long before WW2. He refused to capitalise on Britain's wartime woes, seeing such a move as ungentlemanly.
