Why is Global Warming always such an issue and many people love to talk about it and debate about it, but when it comes to actually making a diffrence and working your way to make the world a better place no one wants to be involved with it? What is the whole entire point then? We are always predicting, debating, and causing but we are never preventing helping to actaully do what we say! What is the point?

  1. It's an issue, because it's easier to talk about it than actually do something about it. It's the reason for the "Go green thing" it's the reason for recycling and why hairspray doesn't have chlorofluorocarbons. We're gonna suffocate ourselves in our own filth and destruction, that's why.

  2. My guess is the point right now is to alert people to Global Warming. It'll take a few more years for the next few generations (like me...I'm heading into university right now) to actually DO SOMETHING.

  3. people don't want to believe because some of them are lazy bums but i think people debate about it because either they want to be on t.v. or they want to be known or something i think

  4. The point is, apart from death, it could spell the end for the whole human race.  Surely if we need to discuss any topic ad-infinitum ....it is the predicted end of the world?

  5. There are powerful forces seeking to mislead the public about the issue to protect themselves from government regulation. Just follow the money. The ones with the most to lose are magically the same ones who deny global warming.

  6. i dont know :)

i suppose the ice caps will melt, diluting the salt water in the sea, destroying the golf stream and making an ice age :)

    maby thats why ?

  7. Well Global Warming could KILL us.

That's why we are debating and all that.

And if we are creating ideas and actually USING them

It could save us, animals, and mother nature.

And if more people could get off their fat butts

And actually recycle and stuff that helps the earth

We and the next generations could live.

And it DOES make a difference.

  8. There are those who are stupid and dont care about the world. have they really forgotten the world they grew up in, the world they enjoyed as a child, are they really that cold at heart, dont they miss anything?

  9. Because we will soon be underwater and we won't have anyone to blame for but us, humans.

We don't care about the environment  and it is us that will suffer.

Even if the present generation is "safe", the future generations will not have such luck.

  10. Global warming is a major issue because it is slowly changing the world.

More mosquites are able to live longer in alaska due to 3 degree temperature increase wich results in them feeding on the caribou which are beiginning to rapidly decline. Also the ice in the artic is beginning to melt faster and faster which is becuase more water is absorbing the suns energy rather than the ice reflecting it. Around 2060 polar bears should either be extinct or close to. Also in South America more plants are growing which are sometimes poisonous killing many river farming vegatation.

these are just a few examples of how global warming is such an issue.

  11. Well, the only reason people debate about it so much is the tree huggers want to take away our cars and not let us use gas anymore because it adds to global warming.  We have to fight with them otherwise we will loose all our modern conveniences.  The reason no one does anything about it is because you can't do anything about something that doesn't exist.  Global warming is a myth.  Don't worry about and don't listen to those who do.

  12. Follow the money.

  13. TALK is CHEAP!

Action will bankrupt the western world.

  14. those that do try to make a difference are in such minority that they could be compared to the early Christin's so few and yet 2000 years later look at the result--the problem is this is not theology it is going on now and their might not be much time left to act on what is being decussed and not acted on

  15. very true i agree. if you ask me, its discussed so much for publicity and adrenalin.

  16. No one will do anything until it they themselves are affected by it in a some way.

  17. Taking a scientific approach, I researched several scientific databases. After reading the NASA data where they talk about how the surface temperature of all nine planets in the solar system is rising in direct relationship to their distance from the sun (except Jupiter which is also warming from it's own internal heat), and how they measured that - I don't worry about global warming anymore.

I can't change the heat output of the sun nor the solar cycles, nor can I change the surface temperatures of the other planets. These things are simply beyond my power to even influence.

  18. Two things:

    1) People are sheep.

    2) Researchers make money on it.  The more dire their predictions, the more money they can get to study it and find a solution.

The way I look at it: If it wasn't for global warming, we'd still have woolly mammoths, saber toothed cats, and dire wolves running around.  There would also be glaciers still covering Canada and Scandinavia.

  19. it's big because

    A)  it has the potential to be very damaging to society, and

    B)  because there is a very lot of money involved, no matter what is, or is not, done.

the point is, what kind of world will you inherit?

will nations be at war because of food and water shortages?

will nations voluntarily reduce adding CO2 to the atmosphere, probably thus reducing the energy available to industrialized societies?

this is the most important issue faced in the world today.

far more important than what happens in Iraq.

  20. Wow, I just answered a question here:

    http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

about why I believe that "global warming" is just a catch phrase the media has latched onto.  Sigh

  21. people want to think they're making a difference, and being eco firendly is chic, but, when it comes down to it, would rather not get up and actually do something. it's for the same reason you can sleep at night after tossing 3/4 of your sandwich in the trash while knowing people in developing countries are starving. also, we are somewhat in denial.

  22. uh, its a big issue because it MIGHT DESTORY THE EARTH!!!!!      DUH!!!!

  23. i completely agree! half the people who say they believe in global warming dont do anything to help it stop.

When i learned about it when i was like 12 i would unplug thigns when i wasnt using them. I would try to only have one light on at a time i dont use hair spray anymore or anything that is to harmfull to the enviroment but that is almost impossible now a days

i recycle too and that is a good way to help out the enviroment.

people need to stop complaining and actually take action!!

  24. i dont know http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...

    (i asked the same thing)

  25. because we have one world and one chance to live, we should take care of it. you are right, people should get out there and do something instead of complaining. but thats politics. government officials say " we need to fight and win the war" and are supporting it, but it's not their kids going to war so they don't really care. politicians bug me.

  26. Global warming is a bunch of bull. It doesn't exist.  The fact is that some decades and centuries are warmer or colder than others and the weather is cyclical in this respect. All this hype about it is just a distraction to the real problems of government tyranny, the abolishment of civil rights and one world government.

  27. The only reason that global warming is an issue is that these people mean to do our society harm, by trying to get laws passed that take our freedom and money from us.

  28. because people, most, are big talkers. I'm this, your that. They LOVE to gossip, and say how bad things or people are, because they love drama. Oh no, global warming!!! Big bad global warming. Yes, the worldwide temperatures are increasing however, it is nothing to worry too much about. The catastrophic events wont start happening for a couple hundred years, if this is global warming. If this is merely just the earth cycling, then we are fine. The earth runs on a cycle. If temperatures increase, it attempts to decrease them. if they decrease, it increases them. Weather is actually the way the earth does all that. If we didnt have weather, are earth wouldnt be a nice place to live. We would have extreme weather.I'm talking extreme, like antarctica extreme, but worse. Here is a little meteorological fact, explained to me by my meteorology teacher: First, clouds develop by evaporation of the surface water in the ocean, even lakes, rivers etc. Clouds do a nice little thing for us, they block a large amount of sunlight. Now, clouds are more common where the water temperature is warm, like florida and the equator. There is actually a constant band of clouds around the equator, all year round. Now, if the water temperature rises over a hundred years, there will be more clouds worldwide, therefore less sunlight hitting the earth. There might be flooding and tornadoes etc. but our focus is on global warming. Then that starts happening, people will complain because its too cold. LOL

  29. there is none-

    theres evidence for it

    theres evidence against it

    you get to choose!

  30. Because people are lazy.

A lot of people said they wouldn't change there gas using methods. But now since gas prices are up they have no choice.

Something has to happen so that people can act.A good example gas prices rose people are driving less.

  31. Its a big issue because if we dont deal with it, it'll kill us.

Many people dont want to make a difference because it would involve too big a life shift.

those that do are impotent because unless the states, china, india and other large countries curb their gigantic energy consumption, then walking to the shops every other day instead of driving ain't gonna do jack. It's everyones responsibility, but ultimately its Governments actions that will change things, not ours.
