  1. Cause jesus was a man who lied

  2. Same God both places.

In the Old Testament, there was a more immediate consequence for sins.

Jesus came to be our stand-in for those consequences.

The Old Testament told of the time leading up to Jesus' coming.  It showed why we need a Savior.

The New Testament is the Promise fulfilled.

  3. In the New Testament we were given the precious gift of His son Jesus Christ.  Sin is forgive, therefore allowing God to look upon us as His children.

  4. Thats what happens when you have kids.

  5. Different authors write different fairytales.

  6. If it cannot be sold in a gray flannel suit, get a red and yellow blazer.

  7. Jesus' death on the cross satisfied God's wrath.

    Simple.

    .

  8. What changed was the way God speaks to us. The way he deals with us. Much like a parent will deal with a five year old in one manner, and a 17 year old in another manner, God has dealt with mankind in one way, and now that we have the lessons of the past to remember, he builds upon them and deals with us in a different way. God, nor his purposes have changed, only his method. In the past, God demonstrated his judgment and mercy through the Law in the Old Testament. Those repercussions for sin in the Old Testament were definitely harsh, but in these last days the Bible says, God demonstrates his judgment and mercy through his Son. Listen to the words of Jesus himself: “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remains on him.”-John 3:36 (NIV)

In the New Testament, Jesus didn’t represent a change in God. Jesus simply took our place and the wrath of God was taken out on him. The punishment the adulteress deserved, that King David deserved, that all of us have earned because of our disobedience to God, was put on Jesus. Isaiah said it best: “We all, like sheep, have gone astray, each of us has turned to his own way; and the LORD has laid on him the iniquity of us all.” –Isaiah 53:6

  9. GOD is the same yesterday and today .  never changing

  10. Because God is not Jesus.

    God is God.

NT was not written by God, but rather by some people that were apparently 'friends' with Jesus.

  11. Since we know Jesus is God, the same Jesus in the New Testament was the one in the OLD! Hard to fathom, huh? Jesus came to reveal the TRUTH about God's character in the New Test. That is why he SEEMS so different. He showed that God is actually not like what the prophets portrayed him as. The prophets portrayed him as a fire and brimstone God because that is how they thought God to be!!! He actually is not. "The light of the knowledge of the glory of God shone in the face of Jesus Christ." 2Cor.4:6. Don't forget that. ---And, just to let you know, God's "glory" is his character. When Moses asked God to show him his glory, God said he would let all his GOODNESS pass before him. Keep these words in thought, regardless of what anyone says. God bless.

  12. Good question. I think the only answer is that the conception of God evolved over time, from the tribal sky-god you see in the early Old Testament, to the implacable God of justice you see in the prophets, to Jesus' universal God of love.

This evolution is in line with the spiritual evolution that took place all over the Mediterranean world over the same time, as people began to drift away from local gods and towards a more universalistic view of the divine. That is one reason why Christianity spread so quickly after it began; centuries of philosophical and cultural development had already paved the way for the Christian message.

There is no way all these visions of God can be equally true. I say go with love, not brimstone.

  13. We can never be sure but to me I believe when Jesus came to earth and  actually lived here   His heart became softer not less firm but with greater feelings towards man being a  man Himself.

  14. Man was living by law in the test. man had to live by all the commandments, and they just couldn't. try it sometime, after a long time God ran things by the rigid laws that he set up on the mount, with Moses, but, after so many years God could see that man wasn't going to be able to follow them. than he decied to send his  Son to die on the cross for us as a last sacrifice.  Now all wwe have to do is believe in the fact that Jesus died and rose from the dead and went to heaven..So God now sees us by grace, and notby law. John 3;16   April

  15. The birth of a son calmed him down.

  16. (Malachi 3:6) 6 “For I am Yahweh; I have not changed. . . .

(Isaiah 46:4) 4 Even to [one’s] old age I am the same One; and to [one’s] gray-headedness I myself shall keep bearing up. . . .

(Isaiah 41:4) . . .Who has been active and has done [this], calling out the generations from the start? “I, Yahweh, the First One; and with the last ones I am the same.”

  17. I guess it depends on the situation.

  18. God never changed. in the old testament..i see God as being just.

  19. God works in stages just like evolution.

  20. Its a thing of time periods. The world of the old testament was a brutal one. It was filled with war and torture and slavery and all those things. People needed a brutal strong god to protect them and to look to in times of trouble. The new testament was written in a much more peaceful time. For a new time they need a new god, or at least one with a better personality. So you end up with a loving god peaceful god. It all has to do with the culture of the time.

  21. Jesus reveals God as the God of Eternal Love but not all the OT is fire and brimstone, there is love there too(especially if interpreted in the light of Grace and Love)

  22. The people that wrote the Bible weren't getting a very good response from the people, so they decided to change his character traits.

  23. It took him that long to find a good therapist. Once he'd dealt with his anger issues, however, he mellowed considerably.
