  1. As far as I know linguistics (I've got MA in general linguistics), there is no "why" in language! But, since you can observe the same phenomenon more or less in all Latin-based languages: Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, French, even in spoken English (and most probably in Latin), that could 'ave an 'istorical answer!


  2. it just is    it's silent in french too  :-)

  3. because in spanish they dont really use the H they use J instead like Jarritos the drink its written Jarritos but its pronounced Harritos.
