Question:

Why is IE messed up? Why won't downloads or videos work?

Lately, IE has been messed up. I can't download absolutely anything. The download never starts, and then a pop-up comes up saying "Internet explorer could not find [NAME OF SITE], please try again later" Or something like that. And it never works, no matter what or how many times I try to download. And videos haven't been showing up either, not the sound for the videos either. Regular sound works, but not for videos. And iTunes can't open anymore, for some reason...I've tried going to Tools >> Options >> Security >> Custom Level, then I allowed videos and downloads but it didn't make a difference. I don't know what to do, this is ruining my whole web experience. I would download Fire Fox if I could, but I can't, because downloads don't work! I have been using wireless internet lately...What is wrong and how do I fix this?

  1. OK. I have IE6 for my old laptop and lately nothing has been working on it like you described. I'd recommend getting Fire Fox 3. That worked for me.

As for the iTunes, old versions haven't been working. Try upgrading to the newest possible.

  2. Your firewall is blocking all URL site you tried to access. If you have a google toolbar, then that could be the culprit because google toolbar has a built in blocker. right click on it and find the properties to turn it off. go to your windows firewall and turn it off , then go to your antivirus/firewall and turn it off for troubleshooting. if everything shows up after turning all firewall off, then start turning On one firewall at a time; or just turn on one firewall.
