  1. it is very hot there, and expensive to keep frozen

    and its very good

  2. 6 a tub in Venice.., and that rate will stay in all of the tourist troves...

  3. I have bought a lot of gelati all around Italy and although it seems expensive at first glance, it really is not that bad. Consider this:  most gelati is very thick and rich - strong flavors. Usually the servings tend to be smaller to make up for this and for the fact that Italians in general do not eat big portions. Therefore if you consider the price per serving for gelati vs. the price per serving of, for example, American ice cream, it would be comparable.

In any case, gelati is fabulous - definitely worth it at almost any price!

  4. Because Florence is the central tourist attraction for artwork. the world goes there to look at beautiful art work. lol. So of course they try to rip off the tourists in ANY way. That's through Gelati, tourist information, pamphlets, postcards, food, even water!

  5. If you think its expensive in Florence try Venice I got 5 Gelati and it cost use E50. The reason is because its a tourism town and they make all there money off of tourism. One the prices go up in the summer when more tourism is in town. If you are not in the tourist part of town where normal Italian live its not that much it maybe E2-E3 a tub.

  6. I agree that it is EXPENSIVE!

Especially when the exchange rate is such a disaster too.

Problem is, people, especially tourists, will pay and so the price is what it is. It's the ambience of Firenze you are paying for. Go to a smaller town and the price will go down.
