Why is Illinois ranked #19?

I think they should be ranked top 10 or 5 and its not just because I'm a fan. They went to the rose bowl last year and they only lost Mendenhall and Leman. I know those were two of there best players but there replacements (Daniel Dufrene and Brit Miller) are REALLY good. They might be better this year.

Miller's more talented, but he's not the leader Leman was on the defense. As for Dufrene, I have my doubts about him. I'd think they're a 13-14 ranked team with a Williams-Benn QB/1WR tandem and am very excited to see the two face-off against Chase Daniels in the season openner.

They also got demolished in the rose bowl. They played one good game(mizzou) and one great game(osu) last year. The bottom line is their QB is inconsistent, and they lost their best player in Lehman.

Based on what I seen from them last year this team is in the right direction. In order to start getting actual respect Illinoise  must start

winning on a consistant basis.

Last year team was pre-season picked to be a tough program ended up surprising allot of people when they ended up beating teams they shouldnt have beaten but did lose the games that could have helped them tremendously in the rankings.

Illinoise finishing the year in the top 25 will be a tough call, teams such as Wisconsin, Michigan St and possibly Penn St could easily finish ahead of them not to include Ohio St.

I see Illinoise going 8-4 overall and Big 10 record 6-3. Most likely just missing the the top 25

They are still ranked pretty well at 19# because of their QB and their defense in the Big 10. Not only that but Juice is also a preseason heisman candidate. Do I think they will last in the top 25 by seasons end? Probably. Illinois did get killed in the Rose Bowl, and based on recruiting status and this years team I think they will do good but not a BCS bid this year.
