I think the fact that Indian medical facilities are improving by the day and treatment is quite cheap in India comparing to Foreign countries like US, Canada and EUrope because of Currency exchange. Also some hospitals gives foreign patients special treatment to make a name in foreign countries

Indian doctors are respected world wide. They are everywhere around the world. They are in U.S and U.K where doctors are scrutinized well before being placed.

U.S, U.K and few European countries are well advanced in medical field, but are very costly. The people of these nations usually have insurance to cover their medical expenses.

The actual reason is not just affordability.

India has a population of over 1.2 billion and Indian doctors have more experince and knowledge of various ailments and disease than doctor of any other country. They have expertised in surgeries and operations because of catering the needs of 1.2 billion people.

I think this is a new word/concept coined recently and seems to be quite encouraging for indians.

India has many things, many themes to offer to a tourist. It is difficult to find a country like India where you find...

And all these at an affordable cost!

For medical treatment, India has now very good state of art hospitals and doctors. The cost is again low.

for health-care, Ayurveda and Yogic treatment is regaining it's justfied importance.

The coining of word 'medical tourism' comes from both above. A person can take treatment and have vacation for self or the accompanying family together.
