Why is Iran suddenly a threat...?

or have they always been this serious of a threat? Before anyone sheds any misjudgment on me, make no mistake about it when I admit that I am not very political savvy in any way shape or form. Don't get me wrong, though. I support our troops 100%, and I am quite aware of the political issues that are currently affecting our country. I think I speak for many when I say that homeland security is the most important political issue that concerns me. As with many, Sept. 11 just completely changed the way I view our country's safety. So hear me out when I'm just asking a simple, honest to God question.

Why does it seem that Iran is the bigger threat now, and is their military strong? From what I heard, Iran has a considerable military presence.

  1. The only reason Iran is a threat now is because our invasion of Iraq has allowed them to sponsor the new leaders of Iraq, their Shiite breathren, who we think are our puppets eventhough their loyalty is without a doubt with Iran.  We gave them power where they had none, and ironically our only allies against them will be the Sunni's we deposed.  We come full circle...

Other than that Iran is no threat to the US.  We survived the British, the n***s, and the Soviets.  Iran does not want to stop selling us oil and if it was not for protecting Israel it would have the same relations to us as Pakistan.  Actually maybe even better..

The Iranian military is not strong, it has the capabilities to strike our bases in the Middle East and Israel with conventional missiles.  We do not have military means however to make any concerted land operation in Iran.  Basically it is a pointless endeavor to attack from both perspectives.

Israel will attack its facilities, Iran will retaliate on Tel-Aviv, and we will once again be brought in to a conflcit that does absolutely nothing for our interests.

  2. The double think says that america wants to bring peace, and yet Iran is not attacking any nation. In fact, Iraq attacked Iran with the u.s. aiding them and yet people will say america wants to bring peace but needs to attack a country which is not threatening them.

  3. Suddenly???????????  Where have you been all your life.....(just kidding!!!)  Iran has been and is a threat for any civilized society.  Who in it's right mind will not consider a threat a country that has "leaders" that dare to *publicly* threaten another country to wipe it OFF the map??? Iran is NOT talking about going to war with that country, Iran is talking about destroying everything and everyone.  They haven't said it once, they've said it many times, they've even gone into details like:  "the skies above Jerusalem will be illuminated.........."

  4. Iran is much less of a military threat than our government would like us to believe. The Bush administration is simply waiting until we have another Gulf of Tonkin inncident (which was a staged event that gave us reason to go to war with Vietnam). This series of wars is simply a way for the corrupt government to get some money, since the international banking community funds these wars and make alot of profit from them. This all powers the military industrial complex, which is what I just told you about. 9/11 was designed to spread fear among the american people and world to give us a uniform enemy, the middle east. This allowed our govenment to go to Afghanistan and Iraq to "protect" America, and to give an excuse for a prolonged conflict, pumping more money into the military industrial complex.

Iran is some what of a threat because they could in essence shut down the oil coming out of the middle east for some time causing a boost to oil prices and thus a decline in our economy.

The world is a stage and our leaders are playing it to the best of their intrests. It's nothing new...

  5. Iran has been a peaceful nation for 200 years. It was called Persia. They were oppressed by a ruling elite and had a revolution against the elite.

In the 80's the USA supported and supplied Saddam Hussein to bring down the new Iran. USA did not like the new regime. Kuwait was a similar country with a ruling elite (same family). Saddam Hussein believed USA would not mind if he invaded and toppled Kuwait's elite rulers. Unfortunately for Saddam international opinion was against that idea. So USA invaded Iraq for the first time. Then they applied sanctions, and startved the citizens of Iraq for 10 years. Then George W came ..................oh it just goes on and on. They have made such a mess of middle east.

You're not going believe everything everyone says . Here's a BBC article that explains the current situation. Start there. Then explore other views:

  6. I think Iran is bluffing or just trying to show off

  7. Iran is developing nuclear weapons. Iran is a terrorist type country who hates the rest of the civilized world. This kind of country, with wacko leaders, is a serious threat to the world if they get nuclear bombs.

With slingshots and ak47's they would be little threat.

  8. A loose cannon ball like Ahmedinajan is always a threat to the world and him being the president of Iran, naturaly makes Iran a threat to the whole world.

  9. Iran has been a threat ever since Carter rear-ended the Shah. Look it up, kids. Jimmah is to blame for a lot of the problems we are having in the Middle East to this day.

  10. only god knows.

iran did something in my country [im from pakistan]

and now my country is saying that if it happens again [i think it was 7 bomb blasts]

that we gunna end up in war with them. then my country goes and says america is with us WHY THE **** I DONT KNOW.

ppl are ******* losing thier minds.

and bush is helping us out and im so scared =/
