  1. Jeeeeez, GOOD QUESTION!

  2. Manny has left a major hole in their line up.  The Red Sox have been lucky so far but they have to do something for the long term.  Terry has got to try several different combinations to see how best to juggle the line up now that Manny can no longer protect Ortiz.

  3. Guess they want a lead off man that can get on base.

  4. bcuz terry fancona wants him 2 da

  5. Francona just wants to switch things up. I personally don't like it either but this is the AL and Francona has spent a lot of time learning the Moneyball ways of managing and he wants to have that high OBP up early in the order.

EDIT-Papi isn't batting 4th because Francona wants him to get that early AB in the first and wants to give him as many chances as possible.

  6. Beaucse he wants to see how other players do in the top spot.

Also he has speed in the top. and bottom

this is called being a manager

    papi also hits thrid...

  7. As a test. Did you know if you drop a place in batting order you lose aobut 23 at bats a season? Probably for maximum at bats. You probably think I'm an idiot and I don't know what I'm talking about but whatever
