I mean he is a good tennis player and is also always tough to beat. So why is he never included when mentioning Serbian tennis players? Is it because of his world #40 ranking?

  1. maybe because he hasn't broken through, as in reach a quarter, in a grand slam like djokovic, jankovic, and ivanovic. plus, they are probably always grouped together because they have been succeeding at about the same time. it doesn't matter, because this wimbledon he is making yet another push and will reach the quarters.

  2. I think a big part of the reason Jankovic, Ivanovic, and Djokovic are grouped together so often because they all share one thing in common: they're all ranked in the top 5 in the women's and men's tours. Also, two of the three have won Grand Slam titles and lately, the commentators have been predicting that Jankovic will soon win a Grand Slam title.

Another reason I think this happens is because he has streaky results at times. Like after he lost to Ferrero (not Federer, as mentioned above) at last year's Wimbledon the  Round of 16, he didn't do an awful lot on the hard courts. At last year's US Open, he lost to Nadal after a third set retirement because of a leg injury. Even further, since his awesome match against Federer at this year's AUS Open, he didn't make make many splashes in tournaments (except Miami where he reached the quarterfinals), thus possibly making the announcers to believe he isn't in the league of the three above.

All things considered, though, Tipsarevic has had awesome wins this year, even before Wimbledon. He's beaten Verdasco and Youzhny two times a piece, has defeated Blake, and has had other pretty good wins. Since he's my favorite player, I hope he finally gets the acknowledgment he deserves following Wimbledon. Look for him to beat Schuettler and a likely appearence in the semifinals.

  3. Not famous enough...YET.

  4. This is against Mike M:

Last year when Janko Tipsaravic played in the Wimbledon he got to the 4th round, but he was knocked out by Federer.

This year he has done great so far knocking out Roddick, and Tursunov, and I feel this year that he will get to the semi-finals!

I agree with you; why is he not mentioned as much, and I know that in the next Wimledon he will be seeded! Last year he would have went very far, but he was knocked out by Federer of all people!

He will be mentioned in years to come especially for beating Roddick this year like Gasquet did last year, and he wasn't mentioned much either!

Hope this helps, and I liked the question!

  5. yes, its because he's not ranked in the top 5 like jankovic, ivanovic, and djokovic.

  6. He was good junior, but he hasn't made good results, beside taking some good scalps he hasn't taken any title yet. However, he is very talented, only thing he is lacking is mental strength and, I don't know how to say that - motivation against lower ranked players... Hope that at this year's Wimbledon he will rise to the occasion and become better and better player...

  7. It could be because of his ranking. I thought his performance against Federer in Australia would make him popular. It'll always be a mystery.

  8. I often ask myself the very same question but Tipsarevic is such a low key person who really hasn't broken out as yet.  This year he has been playing so very well I am sure everyone will be hearing much more about him.  I love to watch play.  He is also one of the smartest on the tour and spends his time reading and studying Greek philosophers etc. unlike the others who loves the limelight.
