What is the connection between Jerry Lewis and Muscular Dystrophy? Why did he start the telethon and continue for 43 years?

That's something he keeps locked in his heart and always will. People have been trying to get that out of him for years, but he won't tell. He has been dedicated to this fight since 1949. The annaul telethons didn't start until 1966, though there was one that he and Dean did together. He will continue this fight until a cure if found.
