Why is John Mccain allowed to lie?

A recent add... "Barack Obama will raise taxes on families that are on a budget".... The add I saw basically says that Barack Obama is going to ruin the economy by taxing people that can't afford to be taxed when he has only said that he will be taxing the richest 5% of the country. The richest 5% is on a budget? Your telling me that Tom Hanks is gonna be hurting after Barack Obama raises his taxes? I understand the political game is dirty, but why is Mccain allowed to lie like this.

It's opinion, and each side has a right to express it in spite of the fact that the other side considers it a lie.

as for tom hanks, he won't be paying any taxes.  he has already earned his money and sheltered it.  those "wealthy" (i certainly don't qualify) who are still trying to amass wealth will be hit by increased taxes.  this is simply an issue of what you regard as fair.  should you pay more % tax the more you earn or not?  no easy answer, and each side has a case.

Because no one stops him. Not even the press.  And I heard the GOP convention was going to be about the "thread of integrity". But that was before "the thread of change".  I have heard a few McCain ads with outright lies, that no one bothers to correct.  

Also, Obama's plan calls for a tax cut (not an increase) for 95% percent of the country.  McCain wants to continue the large tax cuts upper 5.  We're only $8,000,000,000,000 (trillion) in debt so it's o.k.

McCain is not lieing. If you raise the taxes on the rich, it will trickle down to all of us. Who owns the company's,and factories that we work for. That is right the rich. Do you think that if their taxes are raised they will not pass that on to us. It will be done by rising prices,and cutting jobs. Any time taxes are raised we all pay for it. The one who lied was obama.

It's more than income taxes. He will raise taxes on capital gains that effect pensions and investments of all Americans.  He will raise gas taxes and corporate taxes that will be passed along to all consumers.

Better do your research beyond sound bites in Obama's beautiful speeches.
