Why is Kimbo Slice getting more attention than BJ Penn, GSP, Anderson Silva, and other fighters of the like?

Shouldn't the good fighters be getting more attention?

It is true, the better fighters should be getting more attention. But people are paying more attention to him because its the way he became a ufc mma fighter: through youtube.com. People are interested because its the brutality in the way that  he fought on the internet. His battles were brutal for anyone that he faced. So it is natural that the people want to see that than a normal fighter like good ol' chuck liddell. Hope this answers your question.

I have no idea. He shouldn't be mentioned in the same breath as the guys you said but he is all over TV. EliteXC is using his thug Internet image and trying to make the MMA like wrestling. They are basically fixing the fight for him by matching him up with guys he will beat hands down.

CBS signed a multi million dollar deal with Elite XC KIMBO SLICE is the main part of that deal.  CBS wants him on all the broadcats because he draws ratings.  SO CBS and ELITE XC are spending millions of dollars promoting him.  UFC doesnt do that

I think its because EliteXC not only puts a lot of money into marketing him as the next big thing in MMA, but also he gets more attention because he's probably the most debated fighter in the world right now.  There's always arguments between hardcore MMA fans, and those new to MMA regarding his skill.  GSP, Anderson, and BJ don't get as much attention because people already know they are skilled and don't need to be reminded of that, while Kimbo is put constantly on the minds of all MMA fans, because of all this controversy

yes they should, but people who know nothing about fighting will hype him up until some middle of the road guy destroys him then they will all claim they knew he was nothing but hype. thats how people are, new kids on the block shouldnt have had any fans either and its hard to find someone who will admit to liking them now but somebody was buying their albums instead of more deserving legitimately talented bands. "kimbo" is nothing more then the flavor of the week.

I think kimbo is totally over rated and soon as he fights somebody that can he will lose. He shouldnt of won that fight.Then he wont get no attention.

Because unlike these great fighters you mention "I agree they are great" Kimbo slice is a freak show act being marketed as such. This guy isnt a real time mma player. Hes just some freak show side act.

Shaw is trying to capture market share using form rather than substance.  I hope elite changes strategies and starts promoting the really good fighters like Lawler, Shields and Diaz

"Kimmy" is over-rated.He fought a bunch of nobody's ,got noticed from You Tube and got a contract.He clearly tapped out in that fight.You can read Thompson's lips saying "He tapped".
