Why is Kyle Boller starting against the Patriots?

I thought they said Troy Smith was winning the qb battle. Now, my favorite team lets this loser get another chance. I hope Rodney Harrison decapitates him so Smith and Flacco can play.

idk Smith to me is the better qb he is very sharp i think if Smith starts he can take them far he has the talent look at what he did with the buckeyes

Just let him have a chance in the preseason so Smith doesn't get hurt

He's starting because Steve "Air" McNair has chosen to retire. Boller is no good to me but right now he's the only QB with the most experience. You also have to remember this is preseason anything can change between now and week 1.

his the only one that has the most exp. however i think they should let Flacco and Smith so both can get some exp.

They don't want Troy Smith getting hurt, especially versus the Patriots D (ex. Rodney Harrison as u mentioned, Richard Seymor, and Adalius Thomas)... and (I favor Smoth over Boller too) but when Smith had his chance to start he didn't thrill anyone so they want him to get used to the feel of a new head coach and game system before they throw him into the fire... and I've heard from an ESPN inteview with Brian Billick that Boller is a fast learner which is why he probably learned the system faster than Smith... Smith will eventually the starter after they realize Boller isn't the answer

i was juss gonna ask a question like this dude..... i bet there starting him first juss to have troy and flacco on the feild for some extra reps cuz they already know what Boller can do in a game now they gotta see what flacco can do and how troy kept himself up from last year...

It doesn't matter who starts in the preseason.

It's just a scrimmage.

The only reason they put the word "game" to it is so they can sell tickets and have the TV networks make money broadcasting it.

Check it out, most preseason "games" have the back up QBs starting.

Doens't mean anything.
