  1. because they are Spanish and Portuguese speaking countries and those are romance languages derived from Latin

  2. There are at least three words in Spanish to describe what in English is called Latin America. Latin America is the  word that has a more general meaning for it means that the culture of these countries is a mix of Latin culture and American culture. The other words that we use are Hispano America, which means there is a mix of Hispanic - from Spain - and American cultures. Ibero America, which not to many people use, means  the mix of the culture of the people from the Iberian peninsula , Spain and Portugal, and American culture. By American culture I don't mean United States, it means the people who lived in the continent before the European people came, like Mayans, Incas, Aztecs etc.

By the way South America is not the same as Latin America

Mexico is part of Latin America, but is located in North America. South America is the part of the continent that  goes from Ecuador to Argentina and Chile

  3. Because spanish is derived from latin DUH.

    Use you're head!

  4. Because theres latin people in it, and they speak latin.

But its actually South America, they just call it Latin America some people.

  5. Most if not all the countries in this region were settles by the Spanish and Portugesse.  The base language for all the countries in this region are derived from Latin.
