  1. because many merchants and explorers used to come through and recognize the counry's beautiful white topped mountains, therefore eventually laban, which means white, in i believe semitic language, was used to create a variation of it, libnan, resulting in the name of our country.


  2. The name Lbn comes from the Canaanite (and common West Semitic) root and it means "white", which could be regarded as a reference to the snow-capped Mount Lebanon.

  3. Laban is Aramaic word for white because of its snowy peaks that had given Lebanon its name in antiquity.
