  1. Lester B. Pearson was the Prime Minister of Canada from 1963 - 1968.  As a Diplomat he helped establish NATO &  His proposal for an emergency UN peacekeeping force to resolve the Suez Crisis won Lester Pearson the Nobel Peace Prize in 1957.

    Other notable accomplishments: Highlights as Prime Minister:

    *Canada Pension Plan 1965

    *Auto Pact 1965

    *National Flag of Canada 1965

    *universal medicare 1965

    *Royal Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism

    *a new Canadian immigration act

    He has given much to Canada, but even more to the World, that is why he is fondly remembered.
