  1. Well, the currency over there is worth more and the people are paid higher compared to the US or Canada. If you were to live and work there then you might have a chance, but if you're just visiting then it would be expensive.

  2. Everything in the UK is very expensive. Houses are sold higher or lower, in depending where they are located. As London is the main/capital city of not just England but the whole of the UK, making there houses the most expensive. Not all of london it like this, many people in London live in flats which arent to expensive, but almost all of london has big towns and citys, so that makes there houses so expensive.

things are also more expensive, and i hate it:(

  3. Because in short it's the capital of the UK and therefore a desired place to live due to work, college arrangments, lifestyle etc. Therefore because of the desire to live and be there the price goes up. Many work in London and don't want to commute however many have to because it is too expensive to live there. And many choose to cos London is not for everyone. Including me!

  4. because its a capital city and its a popular tourist destination

i've lived in london all my life and it is really expensive

  5. its so expensive because

    1. its a capital city, which means it gets a lot of tourism, therefore everything is more expensive to get more money off the poor old foreigner!

    2. The pound is strong, to people living in london it IS expensive but not so much as people coming to visit. you can buy more for a hundred pounds in america or spain than you can in England. the exchange rate benefits the pound conversion

    3. you earn more in london than anywhere else in the country, so people can afford to spend more money. also, the country pays out a lot to pay people for work, and the money somehow needs to go back into the economy

    4. we also pay money into more taxes than other countries, to support the NHS, teenage mothers, unemployment benefits etc. the socialist movement is very popular in the UK so therefore taxes with be higher

theres a lot more but im sure u dont want an evergrowing list.

i live in South East London, and although it's quite expensive there, its no where near as expensive at central London. if you are desperate to live near or in London then id suggest getting a place in Greater London. a train journey into central london is only about 30mins that way.

hope i helped & good luck in London

    xx
