Why is Los Angeles so scary/ dirty/dangerous? When did become this way and why?

Are there any explanations for this in books, or can anyone really say when or how it happened?

i think its a beautiful place. .Who said that. Their is a lot of competition may be because of that.

city is quite expensive i have been there

but city is not that much spoiled

I do not this that Los Angeles is particularly scary, dangerous, or dirty.  I can think of many cities that are much worse than LA.

Manila is good example.  So is Kingston, Jamaica or Mexico City.  Try any place in Papua New Guinea.  Have you ever seen the slums in Mumbai (Bombay) or Calcutta (Kolkata)?  How about Colombia or Afghanistan?

Los Angeles shines by comparison.
