Why is Los angeles int airport so hard to approach/land in?

  1. It isn't!

    It is like many major airports, it has lots of traffic and as a result it is closely controlled.

    That's looking at it from an air carrier point of view though.


  2. Alot of aircraft in line, only 4 runways, and the big reason is that there are alot of airports around it so there is not that much airspace.

  3. BUSY like he said its just like O'hare but also like Fort Worth.  Just completely busy traffic planes taking off frequently than normal airports.

  4. Not any harder then Kennedy and O hare.

  5. Too many airplanes...Too many types of airplanes...Only 4 runways to handle arrivals and departures...Centralized terminal...Take your pick.

  6. I've landed there a few times, visual and instruments (night each time, if I remember correctly) and I found the taxi (both after landing and before take-off) to be the most frustrating part. Trying to get a word in on ground control can take 10 minutes or more, especially outbound.

  7. What's hard about it?
