Question:

Why is McCain's response to nearly every criticism is that he was a POW?

Even Jay Leno tried to joke about McCain's 7 homes last night and McCain immediately referenced his POW status instead of answering the question.

Is that the only answer he has to every legitimate issue the public might have against him?

How long until "I was a POW" gets old as a excuse?

Even John Edwards "son of a mill worker" was grating on the public after he repeated it ad naseum.

  1. Because he was a turn coat as a prisoner and he doesn't want anyone to really know. Here check it out for yourself.

  2. I guess it's the same as why we always have to hear Barack say how everyone says (I've yet to hear anyone besides Barack actually) "he's got a funny name, doesn't look like any other President, etc..."

John Kerry also pushed the "I was a Catholic alter boy..." to the point that is was like Chinese water torture!

I don't really know why McCain does it, but whatever, it's an election cycle, so we're going to hear the same old schpeel from either candidate any time they speak. Goodie!

  3. Because McCain does not represent anything except Bush's 3rd term.

Also, Bush supporters rant about honor.

Was it honorable for him to ditch his first wife for his wealthy mistress Cindy?

Does he get a pass for that too because he is a POW?

I appreciate his service, but this man should be competent enough to answer a few questions.

  4. The response was meant as a tongue in cheek joke - much like when George Foreman was asked why he named all of his boys George, he replied - try getting hit by Mohammad Ali and see how many names you can remember.

  5. so the fact that your guy has absolutely no tangible experience to present from his own life is actually an advantage....?

....come to think of it, that DOES explain how he was able to make it this far...

  6. Because he can't think of anything else to say. He uses that excuse to avoid a question that he knows can damage his campaign.

  7. Because being captured is the only thing he's ever done on his own.

  8. that "Change" word has gotten old......especially when there is no "How" after it....

  9. For the same reason Giuliani harps on about 9/11... they don't have policies that address the needs of everyday Americans, and so they hide behind the things they've done, hoping Americans will be fooled by them.

  10. First of all, what is wrong with 7 homes.  I have two.  I am glad that the man has been successful.  This means that he pays 6 times as much in property taxes than you do and 5 times more than me.  If he can afford it, what's your issue with it?

He spent 5 years of his life being abused and tortured doing his service to this country.  Are  you ungrateful for that?

  11. It's his excuse for breaking Cindy's arm too.

  12. Just like when anyone criticize Obama the charges of racism fly too.

  13. how many POW's have there been who were decent ordinary men ? - and never been recognized ... I am sorry for Vietnam and I am sorry for what he went  through must have been tough , - but I don't see a strong leader there- and why did he cheat on his wife- begs to differ

  14. Couldn't very well expect him to offer up his marriage(s) for public scrutinizing.  His Keating 5 stint wouldn't serve him well as an example of "public service" when then as now, he was only self-serving his very rich and private constituents with the likes of Charlie Keating.

His fifth from the bottom Naval Academy graduation doesn't  look too hot either, especially since dad and grandpa were both admirals....Hmmm, which existing presidential dunce does this sound most like?

Seems to me his POW years were his shining moment.  Not to degrade that at all, but it's not top on the list of qualifications for president, in my humble opinion.

Some would argue that his ever encroaching senility qualifies him to rank as a potential great - like Reagan!  But to me, atherosclerosis is something to offer sympathy to, not to reward with the presidency.

  15. But yet I hear them accuse Obama of always playing the race card. Cry me a freakin' river. If it is not rehearsed, McCain chokes, and choke bad he did. How the h**l do you try to tie your 7 homes to your POW status.

I see that he learned alot from George Bush about trying to tie to issues like Bush tied Iraq to 9/11. Typical Republican.

Amazing how he does not vote to giving aid to the returning vets. I gues all his homes are away from the homeless vets that life on the streets.

    McCain is a joke.

  16. A bonafide War Hero gets old and nauseating.  What has this country come to.  Tippecanoe and Tyler too.  War hero.  Jackson, Washington, Eisenhower. That is why I never tire of hearing it.  Because Honor has been replaced with entitlement.  So I hope he continues to pound it home.

  17. It's all he can remember....that, and to keep saying "My friends"

  18. Mc Cain seems to be dressing up his POW bio to exclude whining.  He may do the same for the POW references.

  19. It's call Alzheimer's...he's stuck in a loop, and needs people like Lieberman and others to "Bump" him!!

  20. Well, based on his constant changing on various issues, the fact that he was a POW is probably the only thing that he knows is definitely something about him.  Don't ask him how many homes he has, or whether or not he agrees that keeping your car properly tuned and your tires aired can help save gas, or if he thinks waterboarding is torture, or what he believes about how abortion issues should work.  But as long as he can say he was a POW, he's good!

  21. you should go on the "John McCain experience" from Family Guy. Sit in a bamboo cage and get poked.
