  1. You should have seen him on his throne promising Universal Healthcare to the American Legion yesterday...

The man has no morals and no sense of partisanship... ANYTHING to grab a vote at this point...

  2. McCain is a liberal. Republicans oppose much of what he stands for, but they're still going to elect a liberal, if they have their way. :) Mind you, I think they see him as being redeemed by the fact that he's a corrupt liberal. They seem to see that as a virtue.

  3. have you heard from his supporters?

They don't care about the candidate, its the party.  So long as the party wins its all good.....who cares abotu the candidate himself.

Just another reason partisan loyalists are a detriment to our nation.....and yes, I am fully aware of how many "libs" were against Bush last election.  Yes, I complained about this phenomenon then, but they were more geared towards the person more so than the party.....

  4. Unfortunately, he seems to think he can't get elected if he's completely pro-life. That seems to be the case with all candidates, these days. It really puzzles me, particularly why the Democratic candidates seem to think they have to be in favor of partial-birth abortion. The vast majority of Americans are in favor of some kind of abortion rights, but not in favor of partial-birth abortion. So why is it still around if no one seems to think that particular type is OK?

  5. Probably because he's a fan of the 10th Amendment.  Same for a ban on same s*x marriage.

  6. Good. I'm pro-life, but I know a Constitutional ban on abortion is A) stupid and B) not a conservative move. Just like prohibition didn't stop the use of alcohol, banning abortion will not stop abortions. A Constitutional ban is a regressive move that would have devastating consequences - basically like sweeping the issue under the rug.

FYI - I don't need a candidate to be pro-life to get my vote. Unlike the religious right, many conservatives don't feel like this is an issue for the Federal government....

  7. Because he has half a brain and knows it will never happen anyway, so why not work for something that has a realistic chance of succeeding.

  8. McCain is a moderate Republican, not a conservative.

  9. Don't know, John McCain wants to ban the morning after pill and not allow abortions for 12 years the victim of incest

  10. Because our clever politicians have made trite issues like abortion a major issue to distract us from real issues that deal with money and how it's used. Abortion is an ethical issue that politicians don't care about because politicians represent moneyed interest and they just use people who've been manipulated. McCain is just pandering to what is a result of political manipulations of the public, and pro-choice, which has nothing to do with money, is a way for him to try to get liberal votes, since his real backers are rich with lots of money.

  11. Republicans have done nothing in the last 30 years to stop abortion, why would they start now?

  12. Because he is smart enough to know that, while anti-choice voters will come out for the Republicans anyway, such a drastic platform plank will be likely to bring out pro-choice voters who otherwise may have stayed home.
