Why is Mears going to the 07 instead of the 33 at RCR?

Question

I really don't understand it. I know I and a lot of others thought that if Mears went to RCR, he would get the 33. Now, he is going to the 07

and Bowyer is changing to the 33!! It is unfair to all the Bowyer fans

who have bought souvenirs. I like Clint Bowyer and have always thought how the 07 and the Jack Daniels sponsor fit him perfectly.

What do you all think?

I think the sponsors had something to do with that, if not that entire ordeal. Think about it. Casey was looking like he was going to move from a car sponsored by Kellogg's to 1 sponsored by their rival General Mills. They wouldn't have allowed that.

As far as not letting him take the points he earned & will earn this season to his ride next season I guess they are pretty confident in Clint's abilities to make an upstart team something as he did with the #07 so they are hoping lightning will strike twice in the same place...

Because apparently General Mills wasn't comfortable putting a soon-to-be former Kellog's driver in their car, so they went with Bowyer.

As others have stated General Mills didn't feel comfy with a former Kellogg's driver. Mears will still have to qualify on time in the 07 as Bowyer would take his points with him, after all he earned them. I don't know if Bowyer will be getting his whole crew or part of his crew, and or his crew chief. I am sure those answers will come in a few hours. I don't think this changing cars is going to affect Clint too much. Just the fans that will have to buy new hats and shirts, which most fans buy new ones every year anyway.

I heard it was because General Mills will be sponsoring the 33 car. Whether it is a main sponsor, or a secondary sponsor, I am not sure. Anway, there was conflict because Casey is in the Kellog's car right now. Kellog's>General Mills. I believe I heard General Mills did not want Casey because of prior sponsorship or something like that.

Yep, as stated by others, it's because of the sponsorship conflict between Kellogg's and General Mills.  The reason they are switching numbers as well as sponsors is that the "07" is supposed to go along with Jack Daniel's, considering it's "Old No. 7," much like the #01 was  the Army car when its slogan was "An Army of One."

And, do you really want me to say what I think about Clint Bowyer *again*?

Probably because Richard Childress thinks that since Clint isn't in the Top 12 he should make a change. As for the Bowyer fans, there's always eBay.

Not sure the reasoning why the number change but am glad RCR has picked him up, maybe he will have better opportunities with RCR.

As for sponsors, cannot find anything about switching and why Bower will not be in the 07!!, they keeping it quiet so far, possibly cause of sponsorship deals??? stay tuned

Its a way to get all of the Diecast collectors to spend more money and expand their single wides to double wides.  It is all about the trailer parks wanting to expand.
