  1. I'm in Michigan too.

The weather is bad because the cold front coming from the North West is meeting the warm front coming up from the South East. When these two meet they swirl and cause all sorts of precipitation; coupled with the lake effect which adds to the humidity. I swear I'm taking two showers a day here.

  2. FRom Michigan....  as Grandma always said " only fools and Weatherman try to predict Michigan weather"

  3. It probably is very hot there, making it rain over and over and over again.

  4. I live in Wisconsin, and we have been getting tornadoes, hail, flooding, and severe thunderstorms for the past two weeks.  I think it's global warming, the world needs to act now.

  5. Essentially look at weather in terms of airmasses.   During Spring and Summer,  the SubTropical Jet moves northward back over the mid latitudes while vestiges of cold air may remain.    It is the clash between cold air and warm air that causes the realy big storms that you see over the Mississippi Valley or what is called Tornado Alley.

Once you have a moisture source and enough instability,  you have most of the ingredients for a severe weather outbreak.   If you get a period of extremely hot temps,   the next cold front is going to kick off severe weather, almost without fail.

You your situation without looking at the weather discussion,  would indicate some conflict with cold and warm air and some mechanism to enhance instability.   That could be a short wave trof,  a vorticity max or an area of cold air aloft.

  6. I believe it's the start of the effects of Globial Warming. And it will get worse
