Why is Monday being considered as the first day of the week and Sunday the last day of the week?

i dont even think of Sunday as the first day of the week anymore.

  1. where we live it starts from sun. to thurs. before it was sat. to wed. but there is no aslute chance of working on friday unless workin in a supermarket!it is a muslim thing but i dunno
