  1. its farther away from the equator, thus the sun does not shine as directly on new york as it does on california. Also, the ocean currents that travel on the coast of New York are cold ocean currents, wheras those on the California coast are warm ocean currents. These ocean currents influence the air of the surrounding area above them.

  2. You are kidding right? We get cold weather that comes down from Canada, you get warm weather off the Pacific Ocean. We are closer to the North Pole, you are closer to the equator. We get snow, sleet and freezing rain. You get wild fires, earthquakes and mudslides.

Personally, I'll take the snow anyday. It doesn't come in your house and kill you. It just makes the roads kind of slippery for a while. It looks really pretty when the sun shines on it too.

  3. Because California is closer to the equator than New York.  The closer you are to the equator, the warmer it is.  The farther you are from the equator, the colder it is.

    DUH!

  4. new york is geographically farther north than California and therefore receives less sunlight than Calif.

  5. NY is further N but the main reason is the the Cold Labrador current forces the  warm waters  of the Gulf Stream to move out into the Atlantic as the North Atlantic Drift.. The  cold current  runs into coastal water and produces a negative  temperature anomaly. Look at the path of the Jan isotherms for the North American continent.. Compare with the easter side of the Atlantic.

  6. Because its in the north.
