  1. The NaHSO4 is a moderately strong acid and will hydrolyze the O-Mg bond in the Grignard adduct. In addition the SO4-2 formed will help reduce solubility of any organic prodcut in the aqueous phase....give better phase separation.




  2. NaHSO4 is acidic and the solution will hydrolyse the initial product of the Grignard Reaction converting

    -O-Mg --> -O-H
