Why is OPEC allowed to cheat us?

Why does the U.S. and the West allow OPEC to exist? When are we going to stop depending on oil from countries that are bankrupting us?

They are an international organisation, and do not need our permission to exist.  As for their prices, they are allowed to charge as much as people are willing to pay for their oil.

and it is not against international laws for countries to have economic treaties with one another.

I think we should be grateful to Opec for pumping their oil and selling it to us. Just think where we would be if they said, "We don't like your policies, no more oil for you".

i dont think its opec thats cheating us.  The enemy is within.  Think of who benefits within from the price of oil

Why  don't we invade a major Middle Eastern oil  producer and put  in 150 000 troops to ensure the oil gets pumped?

Because oil was under $40 a barrel when Iraq was invaded. back in 2003.

Just check Bush, cheney , and Rice all involved in oil before they took office   Their cohorts, oil companies and investers are profiting I wonder if we, Americans, are the ones who are being sold out.

because most of the Bush regime are members of the oil industry. Its in the interests of these oil"men" to keep oil/gas prices high.

Ok so we will stop depending on other countries for our oil when we get rid of crazy enviromentalists who will not allow us to drill our own oil.

Oh and for all of those who want to throw it back at Bush and Cheney...Ask Ted Kennedy why gas is so high. Make no mistake Ted has his hand in the oil business as well..He's got his own company that he and his family profit from.

Hemp is the way of the future, but no one wants to listen. I know exactly what it would take to change everyones mind:

We are gonna drill off the coast of Florida, and that beautiful water is gonna turn black and the life will die and we wont be able to swim in it safely. Then people will be satisfied and everyone will be all about alternative energy.



As long as we allow OPEC to have so much power, we deserve everything we get.

The real problem is not OPEC though, its the middle man in between the drillers and stock market.. thats very important so remember that. Its not the refineries either.

theres is no way to say we cant have cars that can run exclusively off ethanol, the first car ever built ran off hemp oil. Dont believe me google it, its callled the model T and could run off gasoline or ethanol. The prohibition of marijuana made ethanol impracticle, and this is where we stand today.
